Auburn ruled out offensive lineman Tai Buster and listed left guard Jack Leyrer and tight end Hunter Herring as questionable for Saturday, Sept. 26, against unbeaten Vanderbilt, which will be without four defensive players.
Leyrer is the meaningful question for the Tigers. He played 44 snaps at left guard in Auburn’s Sept. 12 win over Southern Miss. Buster, who is dealing with a foot injury, has not played this season, and Herring had one catch for 14 yards in that game before missing Auburn’s 44-39 loss to Florida.
At 2-1, Auburn is trying to avoid falling to .500. Vanderbilt, 3-0, can carry its unbeaten start into the rest of its SEC schedule with a road win. Leyrer’s status could force Auburn to change its left-guard combination, while Vanderbilt will be down Jaylin Lackey, Jamison Curtis, Aaron Bryant and Nikhil Jefferson.
Vanderbilt also listed tight end Cole Spence as questionable and edge rusher Brian Allen Jr. as likely to play. Auburn has not identified a replacement for Leyrer if he cannot go.
The next update is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT Thursday, Sept. 24. Final designations are due at 1:45 p.m. CT Saturday, Sept. 26, 90 minutes before the 4:15 p.m. ET kickoff. For Auburn, the lineup question is Leyrer.
