Clemson transfer guard Efrem “Butta” Johnson has signed with Virginia Tech, Pete Nakos reports. Johnson played the 2025-26 season at Clemson after spending his first three college seasons at UAB. He appeared in 35 games for the Tigers and started nine, averaging 6.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and one assist per game. Johnson averaged 8.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists during his UAB career. A class-wide preliminary injunction from U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney opened a fifth season for athletes from the 2022 recruiting class who had exhausted their original eligibility. Johnson is among the players using that additional season. Virginia Tech has not announced his role or status within its rotation.
