Four-star 2028 receiver schedules Northwestern visit for Sept. 19

What Happened

Four-star 2028 wide receiver Hayden Koo has scheduled a Northwestern visit for Sept. 19 as part of a planned recruiting schedule. The Tusin, California, prospect also has visits set for Stanford on Aug. 29, California on Sept. 5, Michigan on Sept. 12, BYU on Oct. 17, UCLA on Oct. 24, Oregon on Nov. 14 and Ohio State on Nov. 28. Koo recently trimmed his school list to 12 programs. Northwestern has one commitment in the 2028 class, quarterback Aiden Phifer of Nease High School in Florida. Koo would be the Wildcats' second commitment if he eventually chooses Northwestern.

Why It Matters

• The visit puts Northwestern into an in-person recruiting battle with Stanford, California, Michigan, BYU, UCLA, Oregon and Ohio State.
• Koo's visit gives David Braun's staff a chance to sell the program before the 2028 class takes further shape.
• The Wildcats have only one 2028 commitment, so adding a receiver visit would give the class an early skill-position target.

Northwestern gets a real recruiting opportunity here, but the assignment is to convert a visit into traction against seven other scheduled stops. The player has options, and the Wildcats have to make the Sept. 19 experience matter beyond the calendar. This is a recruiting win, not a recruiting commitment. The test comes after the visit: whether Northwestern moves from one stop on Koo's list to a serious place in his decision.(Josh has not yet commented.)
