Insider: Texas Is Better, but How Much Better?
An On3 insider sees preseason improvement across the board but says a better running game alone does not establish championship quality.

An On3 insider said Texas is better than last year “pretty much across the board,” while cautioning that the extent of that improvement remains the question.
“We feel very confident that Texas is better, pretty much across the board, than last year,” the insider said. “But how much better? It doesn't tell us much that they'll have a better running game when it was nowhere close to championship quality last season.”
Texas went 10-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play last season. The Longhorns enter their Sept. 5 opener against Texas State ranked No. 5 in the AP poll and No. 4 in the AFCA Coaches poll.
The assessment did not identify the players or position groups behind the perceived improvement, nor did it include a season-record prediction.
