Michigan has not identified the new date for Texas, and it is unclear whether the reported change is final. The venue and kickoff time for both games also have not been announced.
That date could determine where Michigan-Texas lands in each team’s 2027 playoff résumé and season buildup. Josh Pate’s preseason bracket places Texas as the No. 5 playoff seed.
The move may be connected to the NCAA allowing the season to begin during what was previously called Week 0. That change could let Michigan move Eastern Michigan forward rather than replace Texas.
