On Friday, Texas A&M downgraded receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman and running back Jamarion Morrow from questionable to doubtful for Saturday, Sept. 19, against Kentucky, putting more pressure on a 2-0 offense that managed only 255 yards in its 48-20 win over Arizona State.
Bethel-Roman has started both games and caught two passes for 13 yards. The junior has been part of Texas A&M’s receiver rotation since last season, and Terry Bussey, Mario Craver and Isaiah Horton could take on more work against Kentucky.
Morrow has carried 16 times for 56 yards and a touchdown and added three receptions for 32 yards through two games. He has worked behind and alongside Rueben Owens II, who could receive more opportunities along with younger backs.
That offense already needed help from the defense and special teams to create short fields against Arizona State. Another thin performance would leave Bussey, Craver, Horton and Owens responsible for turning expanded roles into dependable production.
Saka has five tackles, a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery through two games. Norman has played in both victories but has not caught a pass. Texas A&M has not identified the reasons for the doubtful designations or named replacements, and neither Bethel-Roman nor Morrow is confirmed to play.
Kentucky is 1-1 after a 45-17 loss to Alabama. The Wildcats visit Kyle Field for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday, Sept. 19.

Defensive end Anto Saka and receiver TK Norman were listed as probable. The availability changes leave Texas A&M’s offense without two experienced skill-position contributors if neither doubtful player can go, a test for the Aggies as they open SEC play and try to stay unbeaten.

Kentucky is the front end of a schedule turn, not an isolated depth check. Texas A&M went 11-2 with a 7-1 conference record in 2025, and its first chance to build a comparable SEC profile comes before the Sept. 26 trip to LSU. The Aggies then face Arkansas on Oct. 3 and visit Missouri on Oct. 10, putting three conference games in 22 days.
That sequence makes the distribution of work against Kentucky consequential beyond one Saturday. Expanded roles at receiver and running back could become the working rotation for LSU one week later, with little schedule space to reconsider it before Arkansas and Missouri.
