Tommy Castellanos has officially joined Texas Tech after transferring from Florida State, according to the report. The move created immediate questions about whether he would replace Will Hammond as the Red Raiders’ starting quarterback. Pete Nakos reported that Castellanos will arrive in Lubbock as Hammond’s backup. Texas Tech has not announced a different quarterback plan. Castellanos previously declared for the NFL Draft and later received another college opportunity after a Louisiana judge’s ruling involving fifth-year eligibility for some 2022 prep graduates. He also briefly tried wide receiver with the Tennessee Titans. Nobody has said whether Texas Tech plans to use him at another position.
