Wake Forest Doubles Its Captains for Jake Dickert’s Second Season

Wake Forest announced Sunday that quarterback Gio Lopez, tight end Matthew Lusardi, center Will Way, defensive end Langston Hardy, linebacker Aiden Hall and safety Davaughn Patterson will serve as captains this season. The six-player group is twice the size of the group that began last season under coach Jake Dickert. None of the six were repeat captains. Lusardi, Hardy, Hall and Patterson were on last year’s team, while Lopez and Way transferred to Wake Forest. Lopez arrived from North Carolina, and Way came from Weber State. Last season’s permanent captains were Demond Claiborne, Devin Kylany and Nick Andersen, with a fourth captain selected weekly.
