01 · The NewsWisconsin Tries to Hold Its Flip

Wisconsin flipped four-star Florida cornerback Williams from Florida State in June, but Alabama and the Seminoles continue pushing for him before the 2027 early signing period.

Williams had been committed to Florida State since March before Wisconsin brought him to campus during the first week of official visits. The flip made him Wisconsin’s highest-rated 2027 recruit and put a top-125 player at the center of a class ranked among the nation’s top 25.

Williams has said he is “more than likely” to remain with Wisconsin. On3’s Evan Flood reported that Alabama and Florida State are still trying to flip him, leaving the Badgers with a commitment they have won but not secured.

Williams had more than two dozen offers, including Alabama, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Miami and Colorado. His recruitment has stayed active since he committed to Wisconsin in June, with Alabama and Florida State pressing before the early signing period.

Wisconsin can point to a 4-1 start in 2026 after finishing 4-8 last season. Williams attended the Badgers’ 31-3 win over Michigan State on Saturday, Oct. 3, and plans to return to Madison for the USC game on Saturday, Oct. 24.

02 · The StakesThe Stakes

That visit gives Wisconsin another important chance to keep its highest-rated commitment while Florida State tries to regain him and Alabama pushes for the flip. Williams’ choice now carries the shape of Wisconsin’s class with it: a signing would give the Badgers a top-125 four-star cornerback for their 2027 secondary pipeline, while a change would remove the class’s centerpiece.

03 · The Detail Beneath the HeadlineWhat Most People Are Missing

Wisconsin’s strongest recruiting argument is the contrast between trajectories, not merely another home atmosphere. The Badgers followed a 4-8 season with a 4-1 start, while Florida State sits 3-2 after going 5-7. Alabama presents the tougher comparison: the Crimson Tide are 5-0 after an 11-4 season and beat Florida State 50-36 on Sept. 19.

The Oct. 24 USC visit follows Wisconsin’s Oct. 17 trip to UCLA and opens a two-game home-road sequence ending Oct. 31 at Iowa. That gives Williams a view of how the Michigan State showcase carries through a road game.

04 · The Open QuestionsQuestions to Be Answered

1

Does the USC visit lock Williams in with Wisconsin?

USC is Wisconsin’s only listed home game between the Oct. 17 trip to UCLA and the Oct. 31 trip to Iowa. Alabama hosts Texas A&M on Oct. 24, while Florida State has no listed game that date. Williams’s recruiting activity after the visit will offer the first tell; his early-period signing will settle it.

05 · The Watch ListWhat We're Watching

1

Does Williams return to Madison?

Williams plans to attend Wisconsin’s USC game on Saturday, Oct. 24.

2

Is the commitment holding?

Williams is leaning toward Wisconsin, but Alabama and Florida State are still trying to flip him before the early signing period.
