Finebaum: College sports no longer need the NCAA

Paul Finebaum said he does not want the NCAA to survive, arguing that its path depends on the Protect College Sports Act passing the Senate.

“It doesn't really pay to keep blaming them. They are an inept organization that's only chance of survival is getting the Senate to pass this bill. That turns a lot of people off. I for one don't want the NCAA to survive … we don't need them anymore,” Finebaum said.

The SEC and Big Ten have established or moved toward bylaws barring professional athletes from returning to college sports. Individual athletes are challenging those rules as Power Four conferences increasingly take their own steps to govern the sport.
