Jonah Coleman has earned a spot in Denver’s backfield rotation and is expected to get plenty of work as a rookie, according to Jeff Legwold.
After Coleman’s 13-yard run in the preseason opener, Sean Payton pulled him early. Payton said: “I didn't need to see additional evidence of what I've been seeing for three weeks.”
J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey are described as the top two backs, with Dobbins expected to lead the group. Harvey is projected for more work than Coleman, including on third downs. Coleman’s snap share and touch total are not stated, though Dobbins’ injury history leaves a potential path to a larger role.
