Memphis brings rebuilt roster to UNLV in Week 0

Memphis takes an unnamed starting quarterback and 81 newcomers to UNLV on Saturday night, Aug. 29, for the American Athletic Conference’s only Week 0 game against a Rebels team coming off a 10-win season.

Charles Huff has not named his starter between South Carolina transfer Air Noland and West Florida transfer Marcus Stokes, who competed for the job throughout the offseason.

Huff is one of five American coaches beginning their first full seasons in the league. His Tigers added 81 newcomers, including 61 transfers, and only four players who started a game last season returned. Eighteen players followed Huff from Southern Miss, including pieces from a defense that produced the nation’s most interceptions last season.

UNLV went 10-4 in 2025 and has reached three straight Mountain West championship games. The Rebels return running back Jai’Den Thomas, who ran for 1,036 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 7.0 yards per carry.

Memphis finished 8-5 last season, including 4-4 in the American. Saturday’s 10 p.m. ET kickoff matches two teams viewed as contenders for the G6 Playoff spot.
