SMU linebacker Alexander Kilgore will wear No. 23 in 2026, the program announced. The jersey honors Jerry LeVias, who wore No. 23 while breaking the Southwest Conference color barrier.
Kilgore, a 2025 team captain, was selected by his teammates and succeeds safety Isaiah Nwokobia, who held the honor for the previous two seasons.
“I know that I don’t have another year after this, and I want to just leave it all out there,” Kilgore said.
SMU opens its 2026 season at Florida State on Monday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
