Whittingham Says Freshman Edge Carter Meadows Will Play This Season

Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham said freshman edge rusher Carter Meadows will see action this season.

Meadows and fellow freshman Tariq Boney arrived in the summer and missed practice time while completing Michigan's bridge program. Senior edge Cam Brandt said they have "been making plays" after attacking fall camp.

Brandt also praised Meadows' camp work: "He's making plays." Sophomore Benny Patterson has drawn praise from several teammates, and Brandt called him "a wrecking ball."

Michigan has not established where Meadows, Boney or Patterson fit in the edge rotation entering its Sept. 5 opener against Western Michigan at the Big House.
