Alabama offered four-star safety/linebacker Jernard Albright, Florida State’s third-highest-ranked commit, putting one of the Seminoles’ seven four-star pledges at risk.

Albright ranks No. 174 nationally, No. 14 among safeties and No. 18 in Georgia in the 247Sports composite. The Springfield, Georgia, prospect previously flipped from South Carolina to Florida State on June 7.

The offer also brings a position question. Recruiting services list Albright as a safety, while Florida State has recruited him as a linebacker; Alabama’s planned role is unknown. That fit could shape each program’s pitch. Through six senior-season games at Effingham County, Albright has 33 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and two interceptions, including one touchdown return.

Alabama beat Florida State 50-36 on Sept. 19 and is 5-1 this season; the Seminoles are 3-3. Alabama plays at Tennessee and Florida State visits Miami on Oct. 17.

Albright remains committed to Florida State, with no indication yet whether he will visit Alabama, respond to the offer or reconsider that commitment.

01 · The Detail Beneath the HeadlineWhat Most People Are Missing

Alabama has beaten both programs Albright has committed to in consecutive games: Florida State 50-36 on Sept. 19 and South Carolina 49-18 on Sept. 26. The combined margin was 45 points, a sharper comparison than the records alone after Alabama went 11-4 in 2025 and Florida State went 5-7.

Florida State then followed a 38-7 win over Virginia with a 44-20 loss at Louisville and visits Miami on Oct. 17 before hosting Clemson on Oct. 31. Alabama goes to Tennessee on Oct. 17 after its first loss, 20-17 to Georgia. Those games can shape each program’s trajectory pitch before Albright indicates whether he will visit Alabama.

02 · The Open QuestionsQuestions to Be Answered

1

Is Albright actually going to visit Alabama?

Albright has already flipped from South Carolina once, but he has not indicated that Alabama’s offer will produce a visit or reconsideration. A scheduled visit would turn an offer into an active recruitment and test Florida State’s hold on the third-highest-ranked member of a class with seven four-stars. The first concrete tell will be a visit date from Albright.

2

Which position is Alabama offering Albright a chance to play?

Florida State’s linebacker plan differs from every major recruiting service’s safety listing, and Albright’s production gives both pitches evidence: 33 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and two interceptions. Alabama can challenge Florida State on its chosen role or sell a different path. Alabama’s first stated position plan, or Albright’s description of it, will reveal the pitch.
